BC Cup - August 4th - BC Racing's Biggest Day.
In an attempt to return BC-bred restrictions to the $100,000 BC Cup Classic, the $50,000 Distaff and the $50,000 Sprint Stakes the CTHS is asking for the support of its members at the BC Cup Day entry box. Hastings' management has offered to reinstate the original format in the future if the three prestigious races average five or more BC-bred starters in 2008. In recent years the three stakes for older horses on the BC Cup Day program have been open to horses owned by British Columbia residents. BC-breds proved victorious in all three stakes last season. In addition, the Debutante, Nursery, Dogwood, and Stellar’s Jay will continue as restricted events only if their field size remains large enough to encourage wagering. BC Cup Day traditionally produces the largest single-day handle of the Hastings season. To view a copy of the Hastings proposal click here...
