BC-BRED INCENTIVE AWARDS

BC-BRED OWNER INCENTIVE AWARDS

When a BC-bred horse finishes 1st through 5th in any race the purse earned will be supplemented by 25% for the 2011 race meet.

BREEDER / BROODMARE AWARDS

When a BC-bred horse finishes 1st, 2nd, or 3 in any race the owner of the broodmare at the time of foaling will receive an award.

STALLION AWARDS

When a BC-bred offspring of a British Columbia stallion finishes 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any race other than a claiming or starter allowance/handicap race, the owner of the stallion at the time of service will receive an award.
In the case of Optional Claiming/Allowance races with a listed claiming price of $50,000 or more, the BC-bred offspring must NOT be entered for the claiming price to be eligible for an award.

ALLOWANCE AWARDS

BAP Awards - Breeders of BC-Bred/BC-Sired Allowance horses placing 1st , 2nd or 3rd at Hastings in Maiden Special, Allowance, and Optional Claiming races for $50,000 or more (allowance category only) will share a $2,500 Breeders Award.

BAP Awards - Breeders of BC-Bred Allowance horses placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd at Hastings in Maiden Special, Allowance, and Optional Claiming races for $50,000 or more (allowance category only) will share a $1,000 Breeders Award. Paid to BC Bred but NOT BC Sired.

BAP Awards - Breeders of BC Cup Stakes horses placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd at Hastings share a $1,000 Breeders Award.

Effective with foals of 2004, only Canadian Registered/BC Bred horses are eligible for BAP



DEFINITIONS

“BRITISH COLUMBIA RESIDENT” - shall be defined as a person who has maintained a bona fide principal residence in British Columbia for a period not less than 200 days immediately preceding the qualifying race. Only Canadian citizens and those persons with landed immigrant status are included in this interpretation.

If any owner is a partnership, stable, or corporation, and the majority interest in that partnership, stable or corporation is owned by a person or persons who are not residents of British Columbia as described above, that partnership, stable or corporation will be deemed not to be a British Columbia resident.

“BRITISH COLUMBIA-BRED HORSE” - shall be defined as:
a) in Thoroughbred racing, as a horse that has been foaled in British Columbia. After 2004 foals, all horses must also be Canadian Registered to be eligible for Breeder Awards Program “BAP” Awards and;
b) in Standardbred racing, as a horse that has been foaled in British Columbia out of a mare owned or leased by a British Columbia resident at the time of foaling. In the case of a mare leased from other than a British Columbia resident, the lease must be for a term of at least two (2) years, and a copy of the lease must be filed with the Racing Commission.

“BRITISH COLUMBIA STALLION” - shall be defined as a stallion which offered a breeding service in British Columbia for the entire mating season the qualifying offspring was conceived. The owner or lessee of the stallion must be a resident of British Columbia. In the case of a leased stallion, a copy of the lease must be filed with the Racing Commission.

“BREEDER” - shall be defined as the owner of the mare at the time of foaling.
