had at least one start elsewhereprior to the 2024 Hastings meet

A guaranteed $7,500 total bonus for any Applicant horses first three starts at Hastings Racecourse whose previous starts were made outside of British Columbia

       ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS/INFORMATION (ALL CONDITIONS MUST BE MET TO BE ELIGIBLE)

• Horses that raced or were stabled previously at Hastings Racecourse are ineligible,unless it was prior to the 2023 Hastings meet.

• Registration "papers" provided with application include both paper and electronic versions.

• Application must be made to the Horsemen's Bookkeeper (Cristan Gossen) or the Racing Secretary (Scott Henson) upon arrival at Hastings Racecourse to establish eligibility.

• $2,500 will be paid after the horse’s first start paid to owner of record who registered with the race office upon the horse's arrival at Hastings and filed the Horse's papers.

• An additional $2,500 after the horse’s second start paid to the same initial owner of record only.

• An additional $2,500 after the horse’s third start paid to the same initial owner of record only.

• Maximum incentive value of this program available to the original owner of record is $7,500.

• The horse may be claim waivered, at the owner's discretion, for its first start, provided that the claiming level is equal to or higher than the claiming level the horse ran for in its previous start. (For example, a US$ or CDN$ 10k claim (exchange rate is not factored into claiming levels) must run at $10k or higher to be waiver claimed.

• Stakes and allowance race level horses are excluded from this program.

• All horses must have started for at least $4,000 in the currency of the track they ran at, or more, in their  last three starts to qualify. If a horse has not started three times, then all its lifetime starts must be for $4,000 or more.

• First-time starters do not qualify for the Fresh Horse Program.

• Applicants agree that the registration papers will remain in the Hasting Racecourse racing office for the entire 2024 season.  Repayment of funds received from this program will release the papers and allow the horse to race elsewhere.

• Horses must arrive at Hastings Racecourse on or before July 1, 2024 and start by August 1, 2024 to be eligible.

• All monies earned under this program will be paid to the owner who was the initial owner of record at the time of the first start.  Claiming or purchasing the horse after its first start, does not transfer the eligibility and so future payments will be made to the initial owner of record only on qualifying future horse starts.

THIS PROGRAM CANNOT BE COMBINED WITH ANY OTHER HASTINGS INCENTIVE PROGRAM.

 PROGRAM RULES

Thoroughbred Racing in BC, in recognition of the economic realities of wintering and training lower level claiming horses, have implemented a plan to provide an incentive of $4,000 CDN for wintering. 

Eligibility

• Thoroughbreds that make at least one of their last two (2) 2023 starts at Hastings for a claiming price of $8,000 ($10,000 for BC Breds) or less and make their first two starts in 2024 at Hastings at any level.

• To remain eligible a horsemust not have startedat any track other than Hastings between September 1, 2023, and April 30, 2024, except for racing at Century Downs after October 15, 2023, to the end of the Century Downs 2023 meet.

Program Conditions

• The Owner of Record (OOR) is the owner of the horse at its first 2024 Hastings meet start and has registered the eligible horse with the Race Secretary with a completed application form.

• There is only one OOR for an eligible horse.  This means that if the horse gets a different owner, any benefits under this program still owing, will go to the original OOR.

• Any reference to 'papers' includes both paper based and digital records.

• An eligible thoroughbred will need to be stabled at Hastings in 2024 with the intention of racing at the 2024 Hastings Race meet and its papers placed with and accepted by the Hastings Race office by the OOR.

• When that eligible horse makes its first start at Hastings in 2024, $2,000 will be deposited to the account of the OOR.

• When that eligible horse makes its second start at Hastings in 2024, a further $2,000 will be deposited into to the account of the OOR.

• The OOR must agree to leave the horse's papers in the Hasting Race Office until the end of the 2024 Hastings Racing Season and to race the horse exclusively at Hastings Racecourse until the end of the 2024 Hastings Racing.

• Repayment of all Wintering Program money received for the horse will release the papers at anytime.

• First start must be made by July 1, 2024, unless there are extraordinary circumstances which may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
