2021 Program Rules:

The industry Associations, in recognition of the economic realities of wintering and training lower level claiming horses, have implemented a plan to provide an incentive of $5,000 for horses that make their last start of 2020 at Hastings for a claiming price of $6,250 or less ($8,000 or less in the case of BC-breds) and make their first start in 2021 at Hastings at any level. Horses which waiver claim for $6,250 or less in their last start ($8,000 or less in the case of BC -breds) are also eligible.

To remain eligible a horse must not have started at any other track after the close of the 2020 Hastings season prior to making its first start of 2021 at Hastings.

I/We understand that when the eligible horse arrives and is stabled at Hastings in 2021 with the intention of racing at the 2021 Hastings Race Meet and the papers are placed with and accepted by the Hastings Race Office, $2,000 will be deposited to the account of the owner of record at that time.
**Funds can be requested by Mail or delivered to Race Office (Checks will be delivered weekly)**

I/We understand that when the eligible horse makes its first start at Hastings in 2021, a further $3,000 will be deposited to the account of the owner of record at the time of that first start.

Not Bourbon (Not Impossible – Bourbon Belle) passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 20. Bred and owned by Charles Fipke and trained by Roger Attfield, Not Bourbon was an exceptional racehorse whose accomplishments earned him a place in Canadian racing history. During his career on the track, Not Bourbon captured some of the nation’s most prestigious races, including the Queen’s Plate, Plate Trial, Queenston Stakes, and Overskate Stakes. As a two-year-old, he showed early promise by winning the Bull Page Stakes and setting a track record for six furlongs at Woodbine. Over the course of three racing seasons, Not Bourbon earned more than one million dollars, and his outstanding three-year-old campaign was recognized with a Sovereign Award. Retired to stud, Not Bourbon went on to become a champion sire in Ontario, further cementing his legacy in the breeding shed. In 2020, he relocated to British Columbia, standing his first season at Emerald Acres in Aldergrove, before moving to Flying Horse Farm in West Kelowna, where he continued to make a meaningful contribution to the provincial breeding industry. Not Bourbon will be remembered for his talent as a racehorse and his contributions to breeding in both Ontario and British Columbia.
